BREWS & BOOS was a success!

The Brews & Boos: Talking Terror with E.C. Hanson and Patrick Moody event at Twelve Percent Beer Project at 341 State Street in North Haven, CT was a success! Here are a few photos so you can check out the time we had!

A HUGE thank you to Norm at the Twelve Percent Beer Project for hosting the evening. He’s awesome, the brewery is gorgeous, modern, and lively—and yes, if you’re concerned about going out in the time of COVID, this is the place to go. It’s big and airy and there’s plenty of room to spread out, as well as outdoor space, a food truck, and … well, DELICIOUS. BEER. Kristi Petersen Schoonover and Maryanne Squeglia

My cousin Maryanne, who’s in West Haven. She’s into horror and we both like beer. Enough said!

Candy and Treat Display for Brewery Event

Each patron got a candy treat bag and a souvenir chapbook with stories from E.C. and Patrick.

Marlowe The Way I See It German Pilsner

Of course we had beer! We had a Marlowe Artisanal Ale German Pilsner called The Way I See It (cool name!), which was light and delicious (5%). Nathan likes specialty beers but couldn’t attend, so I brought him home a four-pack of Timber Ales Surrounded by Silence, a New England 7% IPA w/ Citra, Mosaic & Simcoe. (I must admit I am a wine person, but I absolutely get into specialty beers. I just don’t drink them very often).

Some photos of our set up:

I was moderating, which means asking the writers questions. Here’s my pile of question cards.

E.C. Hanson, Kristi Petersen Schoonover, Gevera Bert Piedmont, and Patrick Moody

From left, E.C., me, writer Gevera Bert Piedmont, author of Shiver—who came and brought friends and family!, and Patrick. E.C., Bert, and I are members of the Horror Writers Association’s Connecticut Chapter, and Patrick is joining. After conversing only on email or on our monthly Zoom meetings, it was really nice to see them in person. The energy I’d been missing communing with other writers returned.
