Books & Boos, Colchester, CT

From the Books & Boos newsletter:

“Join us on Dec. 8th as we celebrate the opening of our independent bookstore! Doors open at 10 AM and we’ll have coffee, tea, treats, and more on hand for our patrons! Books & Boos is located at 514 Westchester Avenue in Colchester, CT, and features previously read books, new books by local (New England) authors, and unusual novelty items (crotched Cthulus and bloodstain-shaped pillows, anyone?). This weekend’s AnthoCon

AnthoCon2012 Logo

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I won’t be at AnthoCon this weekend, but there’s a great line-up planned — including a performance by Voltaire and a special preview reading of his forthcoming book about the Jersey Devil–so don’t miss out! There are tickets available at the door. For more information about the event, visit www.anthocon.com.

At Rhode Island Comic Con this Weekend!

RI ComicCon Logo

I’ll be signing at the Rhode Island Comic Con this Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, with fellow New England Horror Writers David Price, Stacey Longo (Malicious Deviance), Charles Day (Evil Jester Press, Legend of the Pumpkin Thief), Scott Goudsward (Shadows Over New England), and Rob Watts (Huldufolk).

The event will run on Saturday from 10 to 7 and Sunday from 10 to 5 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin Street, Providence, and promises to be quite the weekend: in addition to vendors and celebrity signings, the schedule’s crammed with face painting, costume/cosplay contests, video game tournaments, Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon Tournaments, panels, and even a kids’ room. Movie cars include the Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee, the Ghostbusters Wagon, the Delorean from Back to the Future, and more. For all the details, visit here: http://www.ricomiccon.com/#!home/mainPage

Celebrities include a mega-list for those in my age-range: Buck Rogers! Chewbacca! Q! Holly from Land of the Lost! Major Don West from Lost in Space! But wait for it: I go to lots of cons and don’t usually bother meeting the celebrities (most of the time it’s because I’m too old to know who any of these people are). But this time around, that won’t be the case. Nine members of the cast of the original Battlestar Galactica will be there, including Dirk Benedict! If you knew me as a seven-year-old, then you know what a big deal that is: Battlestar was my favorite show. Well, until The A-Team came along. Now, NOW we are cooking with gas! But the big question is, do I bring my Battlestar Galactica board game or my original TV tie-in? I guess it all depends on how geeky I want to get, right? See you in line!

We Rocked and Shocked the weekend…

The New England Horror Writers were up at Rock and Shock in Worcester, MA, last weekend. We met new friends and old, sat on panels, had a great time, and, of course, sold some books. Here’s pix from the weekend — just click on any photo for a larger view and to flip through the gallery.

I’ll be at Rock & Shock with the NEHW this Weekend!

If you love horror and rock and roll (and you’re not at ComicCon in NYC), shoot on up to Worcester, MA to the Palladium & DCUCenter for Rock and Shock. I’ll be joining the New England Horror Writers for a weekend of panels and mayhem…and stop by the NEHW to get some scary books signed by the authors, just in time for Halloween! A complete list of authors appearing is here: http://nehwnews.wordpress.com/2012/10/12/the-nehw-at-rock-and-shock/

Rock and Shock offers plenty of meet and greets with celebrities (this year Peter Criss from KISS and Anthony Michael Hall will be among them). You can also catch the red-carpet premiere of the new horror-sci-fi thriller Infected, the cast of FEARNet’s Holliston, and sit in on lots of great panels (organized by Fangoria magazine) such as Women in Horror with Heather Langenkamp (yes—from A Nightmare on Elm Street), friends and fellow writers Stacey Longo Harris and Tracy L. Carbone, and Lisa Marie (yes—Ed Wood). Check out the schedule here: http://rockandshock.com/schedule/ (as for me, I’ll be on the Breaking into the Biz panel with writing buds TJ May, Jason Harris, and Matt Bechtel (NECON E-books) at 6 p.m. Friday Night). All of that, plus plenty of vendors. Hope to see you there!
