NECRONOMICON PROVIDENCE is ALMOST HERE!

Truth be told, my blog’s usually pretty quiet—because I’m always slammed with other writing projects, and honestly, my craft and art come first, and this summer was absolutely no exception. I still have lots to share, but for now: NECRONOMICON PROVIDENCE is almost here, and I can’t wait!

Here’s my committed (meaning these are things I absolutely will not miss; the rest is fluid) schedule (below). I’ll also be attending panels, the HP Lovecraft Film Festival, the art show opening reception, and of course some street parties as well as performances (I’ll also be helping out at the sales tables for both WE ARE PROVIDENCE and the New England Horror Writers). A few of my friends are having a picnic at Lovecraft’s grave, too, so there’s that to look forward to…and, of course, Waterfire!!

Sound like a great time? It is. Get tickets/day passes here: https://necronomicon-providence.com/passes-and-tickets/

I’ll be presenting part of my short story, “Tinsel Linings,” which will be published next year in my collection, Songs for a Dying World. I will be handing out special edition chapbooks of the entire piece, too!

Find me at the WE ARE PROVIDENCE table in the Grand Emporium of the Weird.

Friday, August 16, 9 pm

I’ll be at the Eldritch Ball, the theme of which is “Colour Out of Space,” which happens to be my favorite Lovecraft short story. In it, a meteor hits a rural farm, and it has catastrophic consequences on flora, fauna—and humans. I usually go to the ball as a flapper—they announce the theme really late and honestly I’m not much of a costume maker (some of these folks are talented and their costumes are incredible). But this year? I lucked out. I’d already bought this dress:

Colour Out of Space Gown

The gown is dark green velvet with pink cherry blossoms. PERFECT to represent the farm environment, no?

Then I bought these fairy lights—they’re purple—to pin to the dress:

Fairy Lights

AND I can conveniently wear the crown I bought for the eclipse party I had earlier this year:

Sun and Moon Crown

I also have an amazing flower necklace I bought that matches.

It’s not the world’s best costume, but at least I will feel extra spirited this time around!

Saturday, August 17, 1:30 pm – 3 pm

I’ll be helping man the WE ARE PROVIDENCE table in the Grand Emporium of the Weird.

When all is said and done, what I’m MOST excited about is bringing my husband, Nathan. He’s never spent any time in the amazing, beautiful city that is Providence, which is a place I love dearly (trust me, when I was there 35 years ago for school, it was not the lovely place it is now…we’ve come a long way, baby!)

  1. Have a wonderful time at NecronomiCon Providence! Your costume is gonna be awesome!

    • Oh, thank you!! Yes–it’s going to be a little bit difficult navigating food and stuff this time around, but I am SO EXCITED!! And thank you!! My mom was a seamstress and I’m sure, had she been alive, she would’ve made me something amazing. (NO I did NOT inherit ANY of her sewing talent). Thank you for the vote of confidence!!
