NECRONOMICON PROVIDENCE IS COMING: I’ve got a reading! An art show, panels, parties and a ball!
Even as I juggle fifty million projects (an anthology, the 10th anniversary of Bad Apple, 34 Orchard, HWA-CT business, a short story deadline and critiques I owe people)…I’m getting ready for NECRONOMICON PROVIDENCE, in Rhode Island August 18—21, 2022! The main website for the event is here: http://necronomicon-providence.com/welcome/

I made my own schedule book so I can choose all the things I want to go to. See all those flags on the right? Yeah, I’m gonna be BUSY!
Here are some of my cast-in-stone plans. Would you like to join me? Some events require a ticket (one-day passes are available HERE: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/necronomicon-providence-2022-tickets-143546536555) but some events are not only open to the public, but free! Please note, according to their website, masks and proof of vaccination will be required for all indoor events. Policies are here: http://necronomicon-providence.com/policies-privacy/
In between whatever I’m doing, I’ll be taking in panels—both pop and academic, readings, at least one performance, a few short films, and hooking up with friends old and new. I’ve got my wish list ready to go, but it’ll be a busy weekend, and it’s very fluid.
Before I get started, you can get a full weekend pass to the event for $110, which includes all four days of everything (except for the ball and the breakfast) OR… you can choose your day if you only want to go for one—and YES, you get to enjoy all the panels and everything else going on that day with your purchase! Single day pass is $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday and $35 for Sunday. Here’s the link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/necronomicon-providence-2022-tickets-143546536555 Just go over there and click the red TICKETS button, and a separate list will come up.
All weekend: you can catch me on and off at the New England Horror Writers’ table in the Grand Emporium of Weird Vendor’s Hall in the Narragansett Ballroom at the Omni Hotel at 1 W. Exchange Street. I will have three titles available for sale there: The Shadows Behind, Dead Stars & Stone Arches (which contains my cosmic western, “Wish Bones”), and Colour Out of Deathlehem (which contains my cosmic Christmas tale, “Feeding the Babies”). 100% of the proceeds from Colour go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDs Foundation. See the full Vendors List here! http://necronomicon-providence.com/vendors-2022/ Open to the public. Free for con attendees; $5 for general public admission, payable at the door.
Thursday, August 18
6:00 to 8:00pm – I’ll be at ARS NECRONOMICA Art Exhibition’s OPENING RECEPTION at the AS220 Aborn Gallery, 95 Empire Street, Providence. This is the official reception for the 2022 Ars Necronomica exhibition, The Visual Divine of the Dark Cosmos. For more information, visit here: http://necronomicon-providence.com/ars-necronomica/ Open to the public. Free; no pass required.
7:00 to 11pm – I’m looking forward to having at least a couple of beers at the Narragansett / NecronomiCon PARTY UNDER THE STARS at The Red Door, 49 Peck Street. From the website: By popular demand, but in a new place, we’ve got a special outdoor block party planned, including local musical monstrosities the Big Nazo Intergalactic Band, accompanied by local rockers Salem Wolves and eldritch-folk act Vudu Sister, some music/video mashups, and other special screenings. There will be a beer garden by our sponsor Narragansett Beers (including the new Colour out of Space IPA) and other libations by The Red Door, and a very fitting carnival fire pit roast to feed your cultist belly. More plans still in the works! OPEN TO GENERAL PUBLIC (free, 21+)
Friday, August 19
3:30 pm – 4:45 pm – AUTHOR READINGS – Narragansett Bay Room, Graduate Hotel, 17th floor I’ve got a reading! I’m very excited for this opportunity to share some of my work with whoever shows up—and if you do come, I’ll have an exclusive free take-away you won’t want to miss (limited run; while supplies last). I’ll also be sharing the time with fellow New England Horror Writers Kevin Lewis, Catherine Grant, and Christine Lejewski. Ticket required for this event. One-day passes available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/necronomicon-providence-2022-tickets-143546536555 Just go over there and click the red TICKETS button, and a separate list will come up. You can choose your day—and YES, you get to enjoy all the panels and everything else going on that day with your purchase! Single day pass is $40 for Friday.

I bought my flapper dress in 2020, and it’s cream-colored with gold geometric details. I thought I’d get this red jewelry to punch up the recently-announced theme, MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH.
Saturday, August 20
9:00pm to Midnight – I can’t wait to don my new flapper dress with bright red accessories for the Eldritch Ball at the Graduate Hotel, Biltmore Ballroom on the 17th floor! From the website: The return of the Eldritch Ball, with a very unique theme — MASQUE of the RED DEATH! Sure to be a night of epic celebration and ruin you won’t soon be able to forget! The ball is a fancy-dress, costume, masquerade, cosplay, semi-formal affair. OPEN TO GENERAL PUBLIC. Ticket cost for convention pass holders (including off-duty minions) is $28.00 advance / $30 at the door (if space is available), and includes two drink tickets (21+ ID required for alcohol). The cost for limited number of general public tickets is $30 advance / $35 at the door. Sorry, only Key-holders and Guests of Honor get in free. Capacity is just 300 souls, so act fast. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/necronomicon-providence-2022-tickets-143546536555
