Every year, the Paranormal, Eh? Radio Network hosts its Zombie Beaver Awards, which recognize listener-chosen favorite shows, hosts, episodes, and other topics for the year. Listeners selected Scary Scribes’ Episode 7: Unnatural Tales of the Jackalope as their favorite guest/episode for 2012 (yes, even if the year’s not over yet—the “year” is usually considered October to October; any not considered this year will be considered for 2013).

Think you’ve got nerve? Then don’t miss John Palisano on February’s Scary Scribes!

Writer John Palisano.

At last, John Palisano’s debut novel, Nerves, is due to be released by Bad Moon Books later this year, and Scary Scribes listeners will get an exclusive sneak peek on the February 26 episode!

A visceral tale with unique—and I do mean unique—vampiric undertones, in Nerves, something strange has changed in Josiah—he suddenly has power to give life to the dead, and he isn’t the only one with an amazing new ability: halfway across the world, his brother Horace discovers his very presence can kill. The brothers’ powers are not a secret to everyone, however—and that is where the battle begins…

Scott Nicholson, author of The Red Church, has heralded Nerves as “Inventive dark fantasy from a fresh talent. Action, horror and high emotional stakes make this a winner.”

Palisano is well-known to readers of Horror Library, Darkness On The Edge, Phobophobia, Harvest Hill, Halloween Spirits, the Bram Stoker-nominated Midnight Walk, and many other dark publications.

After the show, we’ll chat with John about his new work in depth. I’m absolutely thrilled he’ll be joining us on Scary Scribes. You’ll be able to listen live on Canada’s Paranormal, Eh? Radio Network at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 26.

You can read more about John Palisano here:

What if you’re not a “People Person”? Find out in Stacey Longo’s short story on Scary Scribes tonight!

Stacey Longo livin' it up!

Reminiscent of Shirley Jackson’s “The Summer People,” humorist-turned-horror writer Stacey Longo’s “People Person” just might make you think twice your summer paradise—this month on Scary Scribes.

Stacey’s short horror fiction has appeared in several scary anthologies, among them Malicious Deviance and Daily Bits of Flesh. She’s best known, though, for her zombie fiction—like “Wedding Day Blues,” in which a bride refuses to let her groom’s newly-dead status ruin her big day.

After the reading, we’ll chat with Stacey about the truth behind “People Person” and some of her zombie stories which have been featured in the anthologies Zombidays: Festivities of the Flesheaters, Rapid Decomposition, and Hell Hath No Fury.

Check Stacey out at http://www.staceylongo.com/, and listen live at 6 p.m. tonight here!

DID YOU MISS PARANORMAL EH?’S ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW? GRAB A BEER AND LISTEN HERE!

It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since Paranormal, Eh? made its debut. What’s really odd is I remember the debut episode—I listened to Episodes 1 and 2, in fact, from my apartment inProvincetownat the Norman Mailer Writer’s Colony. It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year, and I’m honored Terry asked me to be on the show with the gang from Our Haunted Lives and some special guests like Occult Specialist Nathan Schoonover, and we talk about the Amityville Horror, hauntings, and more! Plus, hear what’s been up on clips from his best shows and what’s coming up for 2012 on this special show!

You can listen to the anniversary show right on Paranormal, Eh? Radio here:

LOVE TRAILERS? THE G&D SHOW’S GOT A COUPLE GREAT ONES!

Recently, I was reading a LinkedIn Group discussion about whether or not movies are helpful inspiration to writers.

Movies have always inspired me. They’ve helped me with dialogue, characterization…and so much else. But mostly what I love? A good, sexy trailer. Today, Shaun Burris–The Ghostman to Nathan’s Demon Hunter (and let’s admit it, Nathan’s other half except for me)–made a couple of really awesome trailers for their paranormal radio program, The Ghostman and Demon Hunter Show.

Here they are (the links take you to YouTube). Enjoy!
